The Nutcracker

8 p.m. Nov. 21 and 2:30 and 8 p.m. Nov. 22, Rome City Auditorium

The Berry College Dance Troupe  and the Rome Little Theatre are collaborating to produce Rome’s First Nutcracker. 

Tickets are $8 for children, $11 for students and seniors, and $16 for adults. 

Sam Baltzer is conducting the Chamber Players of the South Orchestra, a professional ensemble of 30 musicians. Collaborating dance studios include Baird Ballet, the Dance Centre and Rome Civic Ballet. Rome Little Theatre will direct the acting roles and providing technical assistance.

Lessons and Carols

7 p.m. Dec. 2, College Chapel

 

The entire northwest Georgia community looks forward to the sounds of the traditional Anglican Lessons and Carols service . The Berry College Concert Choir and Berry Singers, soloists, organist and more sing the music of the season with the solemn readings of traditional scriptures. Each year the audience anticipates the exciting sounds of the season and the dramatic lighting of the candles in the darkened Berry College Chapel.  Directed by Harry Musselwhite.

   

A Taffeta Christmas

7:30 p.m. Dec. 4 and 5; 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Dec. 6; 2 p.m. Dec. 7, E.H. Young Theatre

Set in December 1959 at the Moose Hall in the Taffetas’ hometown of Muncie, Ind., the Taffetas are doing their live television special on “Hometown Hoedown” for the DuMont Television Network. Admission with any monetary donation. All proceeds will go towards the St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Berry College Theatre Company student travel fund.

 

Candles and Carols at Oak Hill 

6-8 p.m., Dec. 5 and 6

Celebrate the season of light at Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum with the 28th annual Candles and Carols.  The traditional festival of music and luminaries will take place from 6  to 8 p.m. each evening. Parking and admission will be at the Harbin Clinic’s Main Campus at 1825 Martha Berry Boulevard, with transportation provided to and from the event. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 12 and under, and can be purchased at the event.

This family-friendly event will feature Berry orchestral ensembles and Christmas carols sung by the Berry Elementary School choir.  Have your photograph made with Santa and Mrs. Claus and afterward wander through our miniature village of Berry College buildings while enjoying hot chocolate and other refreshments.  The Oak Hill Gift Shop will be open for business, selling Berry College Christmas ornaments and hosting “The Kids’ Craft Station” in the Garden Room.
