Computer Recommendations and Requirements
Berry OIT recommends any PC or Apple desktop or laptop that is fast enough, with enough memory and disk space, that it will provide a satisfactory experience for the student during their time at Berry College. Wireless 802.11n desktops, laptops, tablets and other computing devices are recommended. There are a number of netbooks, tablets, etc... that may initially provide a satisfactory experience, but do not have the hardware required to perform and cannot perform all tasks required of a student while at Berry College.
The Student's Responsibility
It is the student's responsibility to ensure that their computer:
- Has the latest operating system (Windows 7, MAC OS X Snow Leopard - Mountain Lion), updates for that operating system and computer manufacturer's drivers,
- And that is free from viruses and spyware and c) that data is backed up and protected on a regular basis (there are several free sources for this on the internet).
Where To Get Help
Berry College staff technicians do not work on personally-owned computers, though the Technical Support Desk can assist any Berry user with basic troubleshooting. For more complex issues, the BITS Crew is available for both on and off campus service calls at a rate of $25.00 per hour. All BITS Crew technicians are CompTIA A+ certified.

Locally, Alto Computers can perform computer work for a fee. They are an independent contractor and thus are not endorsed by the college even though we are very familiar with their work.
