Lydia Nichols, a sophomore at Berry College, was awarded the Atlanta Steinway Society's Henry Steinway Trophy and Scholarship in honor of Judy C. Godwin.
She was honored at Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta on Oct. 21. For her recital she played the first movement of Ludwig von Beethoven's Sonata in C Major and Emma Lou Diemer's Toccata for Piano. She was awarded with $1,000 scholarship from the host organization to further her musical education and future career aspirations.
Nichols is a student of Dr. Carlisle at Berry College. She is from Saint Simons Island, GA. She has studied piano since she was four years old. She won the Mozart Society Award six consecutive years and has participated in the Governors Honors Program.
