A Berry College student earned second place in the recent Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts.
Joshandy "Josy" Roman, a sophomore from Peachtree City, Ga., placed second in the "Video/Broadcast Production for Student Two-Year/Small College" category for her work on the creation of the music video, "Roll Call." Roman was the producer, editor, and director of the music video that lists many of history's greatest mathematicians.
The video features Professor of Mathematics and Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Eric McDowell. McDowell also wrote the lyrics for the song. The music is Gilbert and Sullivan's "I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General" from the opera "The Pirates of Penzance." This is McDowell's fourth music video collaboration with Viking Fusion, the college's multimedia website. To view "Roll Call" go to http://vikingfusion.berry.edu./index.php/entertain/roll-call/.
The Festival of Media Arts is an international exhibition of award-winning faculty and student work. Winners will exhibit and receive recognition for their works during the annual convention in Las Vegas.
