The Berry College Theatre Company presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream," opening April 18.
Performances of "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be at 7:30 p.m. April 18 - 20 and 25- 27 and at 2 p.m. on April 21 and 28 in the E.H. Young Theatre on campus.
One of Shakespeare's most popular plays, "A Midsummer Night's Dream" mixes magic, mayhem and misadventures into a fun-filled jaunt though the nighttime forest.
Berry Alumnus Richard Garner will direct the play. Garner, who is producing artistic director and co-founder of Georgia Shakespeare, is in his 26th season. Trained as an actor at the American Conservatory Theater and in theatre administration at Double Image Theatre in New York, Garner has guided Georgia Shakespeare from a summer season in 1986 to a league of resident theatres producing year-round main stage and educational programming.
Garner has served as a guest director at the Alliance, Theater Emory, Gainesville Theater Alliance, and Springer Opera House. As an arts leader, Garner has been recognized with the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Georgia Theater Conference, the Flourish Award for Arts Leadership from Kennesaw State University, the ABBY Award for Outstanding Arts Professional from the Arts and Business Council of Atlanta and as a LEXUS Leader of the Arts in Atlanta.
