The Berry College Symphony Orchestra, comprised of string and wind players from the campus and community, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Monday (April 23) in the Ford Auditorium.
This concert will feature winners of the BCSO Concerto Competition. Haley Porter, winner of the college division, is a junior music
education major at Berry College, where she studies trumpet with
Assistant Professor of Music Adam Hayes. She is currently principal
trumpet of the Berry College Wind Ensemble, Berry College Symphony
Orchestra, and is a member of the Berry Brass Ensemble, Brass Quintet,
Jazz Ensemble and Trumpet Ensemble. Recently she was a winner of the
Berry College Symphony Orchestra concerto competition.
She was
selected by audition to participate in the Georgia All-College Band. In
2011 Porter was awarded the Rome Music Lovers Club Scholarship. She is
the current president of the Berry College chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota
and is the president-elect of the Berry College chapter of the College
Music Educators National Conference. Originally from Rome, she is a
2009 graduate of Model High School.
