A Berry student recently won the Atlanta Music Club Competition in the Undergraduate Vocal Category.
Sophomore Amanda Guidi, of Grayson, Ga., sang four works by Mozart, Gretchaninov, Gluck, and Schubert accompanied by Berry Adjunct Music Instructor Kathryn Nobles at the piano. Giudi, a music education major, credits her win to the guidance of Senior Music Lecturer Harry Musselwhite.
“I was asked to perform all four works from memory in my audition. My studies here at Berry College with Mr. Musselwhite have been what have made me able to accomplish such a feat,” she said.
Guidi was last year's winner of the Berry College Orchestra Concerto Competition, and will pursue advanced vocal and operatic study in Florence, Italy, this summer with Metropolitan Opera singers Sally Wolf and Benita Valente.
