Provost Katherine Whatley is the Berry College chief academic officer.
In this capacity, she oversees the planning and administration of:
- the undergraduate and graduate academic programs
- the library
- the honors program
- international programs,
- the center for teaching excellence
- faculty development
- determining class schedules
- regular evaluation of the academic programs
- all other matters of an academic nature

Additionally, the provost is responsible for recommending the budget and personnel necessary to accomplish these objectives to the president. In the absence of the president, the provost serves as acting president. In the absence of the provost, the associate provost and dean of academic services serve as acting provost.
