Admission to Honors Program
Any student who is accepted for admission to
Berry College and whose SAT/ACT scores and high school GPA meet admissions
standards for the Honors program will be invited to apply. The application will
be available on Viking Web for those who qualify.
Final decisions on admission begin in late May. Currently, the
minimum scores are 1300 (out of 1600 Math and Reading Analysis combined)
for the SAT and a 29 (composite) for the ACT. A minimum 3.5 GPA for
all high school work is also required. Among Berry applicants who meet
the basic Honors criteria, a group of roughly 60 students will be
admitted to the Honors program.
Students who are admitted to the Honors program will have Honors
courses in their prepared schedule when they arrive for the summer SOAR
sessions. The Honors Director or a representative of the Honors program
will be available during SOAR to answer questions and to provide
orientation materials. A formal orientation and social for all Honors
students is hosted by the Honors Director and the Honors Student Union
before the beginning of fall term.
Students who do not meet qualifications upon entering Berry may
apply after their first semester if the student has a minimum 3.5 GPA
for all Berry course work attempted during the first semester and
obtains a recommendation from a faculty member.
