Worship and Devotion

Berry offers opportunities for Sunday worship and monthly faculty/staff prayer breakfast.

Lectionary Reflections

At Berry College, the Chaplain's Office and Mount Berry Church have the primary responsibility of promoting Christian values on campus and in the community. We do this with a commitment to being interdenominational and ecumenical in our scope. We thus ground our ministry with the Revised Common Lectionary, a three-year cycle of scripture passages that are used by many Christian denominations around the world. Each week, four readings are used: one each from the Hebrew Scriptures, the Psalms, the New Testament, and the Gospels.

Early each week, the chaplain sends an email with reflections on the week's lectionary readings. The reflections are provided by Seasons of the Spirit, an international, interdenominational organization dedicated to lectionary-based worship. Some portion of the lectionary scriptures are typlically used for the text of the sermon each Sunday at Mount Berry Church.

Faculty/Staff Prayer Breakfast

On the first Wednesday of every month, faculty and staff voluntarily gather in the Red Room at Krannert for a continental breakfast, a Christian devotional by a colleague, and a time of prayer.  All faculty and staff are welcome.
