FALL Semester 2008
First Year Service Day [September 6, 2008]
First Year students team up with local community service organizations to engage in a variety of volunteer projects ranging from cleaning up streams to painting playground equipment. By taking part in the First Year Service Day, students experience Berry’s motto: “Not to be ministered unto, but to minister.”

Community Engagement Week [September 8-12, 2008]
At the beginning of each academic year, BCVS organizes a week that highlights opportunities for students to engage in the local community.
Mentor Training [September 8 and 15, 2008]
Berry students partner with Communities In Schools (CIS) to learn how to effectively help young people learn, stay in school, and prepare for life. The mission of CIS is to increase the community's high school
success rate.
Community Service and Volunteer Opportunity Fair [September 11, 2008]
Every fall, the Volunteer Services at Berry hosts a Community Service and Volunteer Opportunity Fair with the purpose of connecting community organizations and Berry students; the fair serves to encourage effective community engagement and communication.
Alzheimer’s Memory Walk [September 20, 2008]
The Alzheimer’s Memory Walk supports the Alzheimer’s Association – an organization seeking to find a cure for Alzheimer’s disease. Hundreds of walkers come out to in an effort to raise money for the organization.
Make A Difference Day [October 25, 2008]
Make A Difference Day is an annual, national event that takes place on the fourth Saturday of every October. Berry students engage in the local community at a variety of work sites, including a community carnival for local children.
Toys for Tots Drive [November-December, 2008]
During the Christmas season, Berry College participates in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The mission of this program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the Rome community. These gifts serve to deliver a message of hope to needy youngsters that will motivate them to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders.
SPRING Semester 2009
MLK Jr. Service Day: “A Day On, Not A Day Off” [January 19, 2009]
‘A Day On, Not A Day Off’ is a national service day that seeks to bring together people who might not ordinarily meet, break down barriers that have divided us in the past, and lead to better understanding and ongoing relationships. Berry students partner with Georgia Power to work on the restoration of Old Eastview Cemetery.
Collegiate Relay for Life [April 3 – 4, 2009]
Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature activity. It offers members of the Berry community an opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer. Team members camp out and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Teams of people from all walks of life have fun while raising much-needed funds to fight cancer and raise awareness of cancer prevention and treatment.
National MS Society Walk [April 4, 2009]
Every spring, Berry hosts a local MS Walk in conjunction with the National MS Society. The purpose of the society is to move Multiple Sclerosis research forward by relentlessly pursuing prevention, treatment and cure.
March of Dimes Walk for Babies [April 25, 2009]
Berry hosts a local March of Dimes Walk every spring. The money raised supports programs in the community that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. The walk funds research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten babies.
