Chaplain's Office Staff

The Chaplain’s Office has the primary responsibility for setting the religious tone on campus. The chaplain has four areas of responsibility: ministering to the whole campus; promoting opportunities for Christian growth; supporting all religion-in-life groups; and assisting with the Bonner Center for Community Service.

Chaplain Dale McConkey

Dr. Dale McConkey is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Religion in his twelfth year Berry. He has studied and published in the area of sociology of religion, with a focus on the connections and tensions between Christian faith and sociological knowledge. He is editor of The Christian Sociologist newsletter. "Chaplain Dale" is a minister in the United Methodist Church.

David Thomas - Pastoral Intern

David Thomas is the pastoral intern at Mount Berry Church. David received Christ as his personal Savior at age 6. He first felt the call into the ministry in high school. Through prayer and wise counsel, David has decided to pursue God's plans for him as a pastor. As pastoral intern,David assists in event-planning and coordination, serves on the Education and Discipleship Team, and sometimes preaches sermons. His favorite past-times include theology, history, old video games, telling jokes, and loving people.

Beca Gonzalez - Events Coordinator

Beca González is an Office Manger's and Events Coordinator's assistant for the Chaplain's office. She is an English major with a concentration in writing, as well as a music minor. She enjoys singing, writing, reading, and her pets.

Scott Hill - Chapel Coordinator

Scott Hill is the the Chapel Coordinator and Head Sound Tech for the Chaplain's Office . His major is in History, minor in Anthropology, and is interested in German. His favorite things in life are Medieval history, the age of sail, playing strategy games, and sweet tea.

Alyssa Ethridge - Care Network Coordinator

Alyssa Ethridge is the Care Network coordinator for the Chaplain's office, and hopes to major in International studies. She's currently a sophomore, enjoys meeting new people and sharing about GOD's Love. Finally, she wants to work overseas particular in Central Asia or the Middle East.

Catherine Rice - Public Relations Coordinator

Catherine Rice is junior at Berry College and is in charge of Public Relations/ Publicity for the Chaplain's Office. She is pursuing a BA degree in music non-performance with a voice concentration. After Berry, she plans on going to Ukraine, where she hopes to use music to minister to others and/or help children in orphanages.

Glenn Gray - Public Relations Coordinator

Glenn Gray is the special events coordinator for the Chaplain's office. He is a Psychology major with a religion minor. He hopes to graduate and get a counseling degree, a masters in theology, and one day a Doctorate of Theology. He hopes to use these degrees to do Christian counseling and possibly become a professor one day.
