About Our Beef
Angus
There is little lacking in the Angus breed, and it meets the demands
of the cattle industry on a wide range of points. It is a docile breed
with a relatively hearty body type. The Black Angus breed is known
world-wide for delivering a phenomenal eating experience with rock solid
consistency. Compared to other breeds, Angus cattle naturally deposit
high amounts of intramuscular marbling into their muscle, producing a
very desirable flavor.
Natural
According to the USDA, a natural beef product is one that "does not
contain any artificial flavor or flavoring, coloring ingredient, or
chemical preservative or any other artificial or synthetic ingredient;
and the product and its ingredients are not more than minimally
processed." Here at Berry Angus we focus on marketing a high quality, natural beef product.
Our Label
Berry Angus beef is born and raised at Berry College,
which guarantees that the product is Black Angus, natural, raised
without added hormones, and is processed at a state inspected facility
to insure quality. A label is required to sell individual cuts of
beef.
Nutritional Value
All beef is nutrient rich, with eight times more vitamin B12, six
times more zinc and three times more iron than skinless chicken
breast. Twenty-nine cuts of beef meet government guidelines for lean,
such as the filet mignon, sirloin, and lean ground beef. Beef is
America’s #1 source of protein.
No Added Hormones
Absolutely no synthetic hormones are given to the steers to enhance their growth or development.
Feed
Berry Angus steers are grain fed from weaning weight to harvest,
which averages about 8-9 months. Grain feeding increases the marbling
that creates maximum flavor.
Source
All Berry Angus steers are born and raised at Berry College. Berry
students care for and oversee the well-being of these animals.
