SGA Project Fund
The Student Government Association does many projects throughout the year that raise funds for SGA to use to improve Berry. As part of this goal to improve the campus, SGA makes available some of these funds to assist persons and groups who are not eligible for SGA SOAP funds. Such persons and groups may include: groups who receive college or departmental funding but which are not recognized as an official Berry club/organization, unofficial clubs/organizations (i.e. those seeking official status, but have yet to gain it), and individuals who desire to attend special conferences.
The intent of the Project Fund is to supplement personal and group funding of the event. Since most persons and groups interested in requesting SGA Project Funds are not already permitted to hold fundraisers on-campus or to use the name of Berry off-campus, you are expected to speak with Dr. Thomas Carver, Dean of Students, to gain such permission. This requirement is made so that you may be able to attempt to raise funds on your own. SGA does not, and is not able to fund every worthy cause, so those persons who, and those groups that have given effort to raise funds for a worthy event will be viewed much more favorably.
Attached to this introductory letter is this year's packet of information explaining the SGA Project Fund. This packet outlines the procedure of applying for these funds and the way SGA decides on the amount, if any, to award. The guidelines for the use of the funds and a contract acknowledging and agreeing to abide by the application process and guidelines are also included. Another page outlines the procedures if a violation of the contract is suspected.
These policies have been formed to be stringent so that the likelihood of abuse of SGA funds will be slight.
