Berry's Jordan Ferrell spent her summer
interning in Barcelona,
Spain working with YouBarcelona.
Jordan Ferrell, a senior Communication major
with a concentration in Public Relations and a minor in Creative Writing, spent
her summer interning in Barcelona, Spain working with YouBarcelona, an
entertainment company that specializes in throwing celebrity parties and
special events at local clubs. The company had Jordan manage their presence on
social media sites like Tumblr and Pinterest. She also wrote three articles and
a press release, giving her an opportunity to put her Communication skills to
work!
Jordan says, “I found out about the opportunity
through a program called CIS Abroad and was first introduced to the program
through the International Programs office here at Berry. I was the first person from Berry to attend
this program.” As Jordan looks to the future, her plans include a variety of
options. “My main goal would be to become a Publicist,” she says, “but I am
also interested in Fashion Journalism and working for a PR Agency.
Jordan credits her summer internship within
giving her insight into even more opportunities in publicity and social media,
as well as helping her figure out what she does not want to do. “I am not
interested in doing anything with social media,” she explains. “It's draining.
But I do recognize the need for it, and have gained the experience.” The
important skill set that Jordan developed this summer might well help her land
her first full-time job in the Communication field.
