Intern Spotlight
Berry's Carina Brommet Interns at Double R Productions
|
Carina Brommet represented Double R Productions at their expo table. |
Carina, who is graduating in May, says she hopes
to find permanent work in film and/or photography. “The internship definitely helped me decide
that this is the field for me,” says Carina.
“But, more than that, it gave me a taste of the working world and
allowed me to gain valuable insight into the employment process.”
When Visual
Communications major and International Studies minor Carina Brommet graduates
next month, she will be entering the work force with a definite edge – the
real-world work experience she gained through her internship at Double R
Productions, a Washington, D.C. production company. Double R is a small company, and Carina
shares that its owner “makes a point of treating the interns like staff
members. I was given opportunities to do
a lot of hands-on work.”
Carina’s work included
editing video packages for clients, taking promotional photos at events,
designing DVD labels, writing press releases, helping to maintain a weekly blog
about the internship experience, answering phones, assisting on video shoots, hiring
production assistants, and even coordinating a client’s shoot from
preproduction all the way to delivery.
Carina learned about the
internship position at Double R Productions through The Washington Center, an
internship program in D.C. that places students at sites all over the city in
dozens of different fields. Berry
College has been working with The Washington Center for years, and Carina
happened to sit in on an on-campus session hosted by one of their
representatives. Once Carina decided that
she wanted to find an internship, she received help completing her application
from government professor Dr. Michael Bailey, who is Berry’s faculty liaison
with The Washington Center.
