Personnel

Dr. J. Marshall Jenkins has served as Director of the Counseling Center since 1987. He received his bachelor of arts degree in philosophy from Davidson College in 1980 and his Ph.D. in counseling psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1986. He is a licensed psychologist who has been counseling college students since 1982. While he works effectively with a broad range of student concerns, he is especially interested in helping students with depression, stress, relationship issues, and spiritual concerns. After hours, Marshall enjoys theological reading, writing, playing with his son, running with his dog, and walking with his wife (Sharon) on Berry's beautiful campus. Marshall is the author of two books, most recently A Wakeful Faith: Spiritual Practice in the Real World, and he has published numerous articles on Christian spirituality.

Terri Cordle joined the Berry College Counseling Center staff in August 2006 and is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor.  She has worked in college counseling for ten years at several different colleges and universities in Georgia, most recently “down the street” at Shorter College. Terri earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Clemson University in South Carolina and her Master of Science degree in community counseling from Georgia State University.  Her main goal when counseling is to assist students live healthy, balanced lives from a holistic point of view (mind, body, spirit).  Although Terri was born and raised in New Hampshire and will always consider herself a New Englander, she feels at home in Georgia, having lived south of the Mason-Dixon Line since 1989.  She resides in Rome with her husband and two young sons and enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening, scrap booking, and traveling.

Nancy Case, the Counseling Center's veteran staffer, is known to two decades of students as "Miss Nancy." She will greet you in our reception area with warmth and a fierce protective instinct for your privacy. On fall weekends you can expect her to be Knoxville bound, to cheer on the Vols.
