Services Provided
- There is a Registered Nurse on duty from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday to evaluate students' medical needs.
- No appointment is needed to see a nurse!
- Medical Directors, James Douglas, M.D. and Caye Burch, FNP., oversee all clinical operations and are on site to see students Mondays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursdays 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
- Appointments are needed to see the doctors. A one-time yearly hee of $150 is incurred for students using GYN services on-campus. All other medical services are provided @ no charge. This fee is charged to the student's tuition account.
- Goals of the Health and Wellness Center are consistent with maintenance of confidentiality provided in a caring and comfortable atmosphere.
- Allergy injections are administered with an order from the student's private physician when the Doctor is on-site Mondays and Thursdays.
- Prescriptions are called to the pharmacy of the student's choice.
- The Self Treatment Center is available for students providing over-the-counter medicines. The student can access the medicine without having a physical examination or evaluation, however the nursing staff is happy to answer questions or concerns.
- Medical equipment is available through the Loan Equipment Program. Students can check out the needed items and return them when the equipment is no longer needed. There is no charge for this program unless items are not returned. The students tuition account will be billed for the replacement cost of borrowed items. Items available for loan include:
- Crutches
- Wheelchairs
- Humidifiers
- Air splints for ankles
- Wrist splints
- Heating pads
- Medical records are maintained for current students and for 7 years after a student leaves Berry.
- Flu injections are administered from October to November. There is no charge to students for this service. Faculty and staff may receive flu shots at a minimal cost.
- The staff of the Health and Wellness Center have an excellent working relationship with the on-campus support services as well as community contacts for referrals if needed.
- For services not provided on campus, the Health and Wellness staff can provide referrals to qualified, local medical professionals.
