New Student Housing
- These new residence halls will help Berry increase the vibrancy of its campus-life experience while also meeting the strategic goals of increasing residential capacity and overall student enrollment
- Occupation is scheduled for August 2009
- Construction of the news residence halls and other on-campus renovations are being funded through Series 2008 Revenue Bonds issued by the Development Authority of Floyd County. Up to $55 million in bonds has been approved, to be repaid over a period of 30 years.
Combined capacity for the two three-story structures is 345 students- Buildings will house sophomores and juniors
- Male and female students will be divided by floor.
- Each building will be divided into wings housing 20-22 students apiece
- One Resident Assistant will be assigned to each wing
- Both double- and single-occupancy rooms will be available
- The complex is designed to emphasize community. Amenities include:
- Air conditioning
- One kitchen per building, near the main social lounge
- One indoor/outdoor fireplace per building
- Large social/common area on the first floor of each building
- Patios
- Study lounges
- Elevator service
- Common area bathrooms will be located on each wing
- Laundry facilities in each building
- Card access to exterior doors
- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification
- Easy walking distance to planned student activities center (to be located in renovated barn complex), Viking Trail and other campus facilities
