Loft Program
Because of safety risks that loft beds often present due to poor construction or the use of materials which present a fire hazard, some restrictions relative to lofts are necessary. In an effort to enable Berry students to have a loft if they desire, the Office of Residence Life will be choosing a loft which can be easily purchased and installed in their room and meets all necessary safety requirements.
Students may possess a loft anywhere in college housing that has not been equipped with new furniture that can be lofted. Rooms in Pilgrim, Morgan, Deerfield and Dana Hall are not suitable for third party lofts. Students may use only college-authorized lofts.
New lofts may be rented from Campus Loft Company.
Some students still have lofts made by Campus Lifestyles or The Loft Guys and those lofts that are in use on campus and can continue to be used as long as all the elements of the college bed remain in the room (springs, headboard, foot-board).
The Office of Residence Life recommends that students obtain a copy of the Loft Policy publication before they install a loft. Students may pick-up a copy of this publication or may call the residence life office to have one mailed to them.
