Communication Center
The Communication Center is located at the Main Entrance of Berry College where a Communication Center officer (dispatcher) or police officer is always on duty. The dispatcher monitors incoming vehicle traffic at night, allowing only Berry personnel, students and authorized guests to enter campus. Routine and emergency telephone and radio communications are handled here. The dispatcher has direct contact (via radio & phone) with the Rome/Floyd 911 Center for prompt response to fire and medical emergencies.
The gatehouse also serves a visitor information center, an after-hours switchboard and an alarm-monitoring center. All alarms (fire, burglary, panic and malfunctions) report directly to a central monitoring system at the Communication Center.
Students and faculty-staff residents must notify the gatehouse of any expected after hours guests, which will allow for prompt entry into campus.
