Founder's Work Program
Years ago, Martha Berry instilled in her students the value of self-sufficiency, discipline and organization. Today the Founder's Work Program carries on the same noble objective, enabling a limited number of students to work their way through Berry.
We are currently accepting applications for the program for 2008-2009 incoming Freshmen students. The deadline for applying to the Founder's program is March 31, 2008. No applications for the Founder's program will be accepted after that date.
Martha Berry taught her students the value of hard work. She believe it instilled in them self-reliance, confidence and discipline. More than 100 years later, the work ethic remains an integral part of a Berry education.
Our on campus work education program provides opportunities for personal and professional development in more than 100 job classifications. Most importantly, work on the Berry campus encourages a service commitment to the community, as well as a self-help attitude.
How can I qualify?
Committed to serving students regardless of their economic background, Berry utilizes on campus work education opportunities in structuring financial aid packages. The Founder's Work Program at Berry recognizes the needs of students from 'middle-income' families, who typically do not qualify for need-based financial aid. By including terms of full-time work with full-time study, Founder's students can work their way through Berry in five years. The program is available to a limited number of students who do not qualify for need based financial aid, yet lack the discretionary income to finance a college education.
A limited number of "middle income" students are given the opportunity to work and earn all their tuition while at Berry College. This is a nine or ten semester program, which allows one to alternate full time work terms with full time study and part time work.
*To determine eligibility for the Berry College Founder's Work Program, you must apply for need-based financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, as well as the paperwork required by the Berry College Financial Aid Office.
How do I apply?
Although the information listed above (in the section 'How can I qualify') must also be completed, it is important that the letter of interest should be submitted as soon as possible, even if the other financial aid paperwork has not yet been completed. To apply for the Berry College Founder's Program, you must submit a letter of interest (as soon as possible) to:
