Main Entrance/Gate House
The main entrance – the ‘Gate of Opportunity’ - with its red brick Georgian gateway and gatehouse, was built in 1964 as part of Hermann Hall construction. Martha Berry called the school entrance the ‘Gate of Opportunity’ because it opened two ways; for those coming to learn and those going out to share their knowledge with the world.

The original ‘Gate of Opportunity,’ is located on U. S. Highway 27 near the intersection with Ga. Loop 1. It leads to the Hoge Building (the old administration building). It was closed in the interest of traffic safety, and the main entrance leading to Hermann Hall gateway was designated the new ‘Gate of Opportunity,’ in 1995.
