Mary Hall

Built in 1930-31, Mary Hall was the last of the group to be completed. This U-shaped building is named for Mr. Ford's mother. Each side is designated as East Mary or West Mary, and the tower is in the center, or base, of the U-shape. Mary Hall accommodates 250 to 300 women students.

The contractors were Battson, Cook Company of West Point, Georgia. There was concern over the stone supply and ability to match the rest of the complex. Previous supplies, taken from the railroad trestle area on Martha Berry Highway (U.S. Highway 27), had been exhausted. To protect the stone supply needed, the Schools bought a quarry near Dry Creek Bridge and Redmond Road. During the early 1980s, Mary Hall underwent many repairs and was refurbished. In the early 1990's it was air-conditioned.
