WinShape Centre is an extension of the WinShape Foundation, which was established by Atlanta restaurateur, Truett Cathy. Outstanding young people who work for his Chick-fil-A chain of restaurants receive scholarships funded half by him and half by Berry College, as well as special opportunities for personal growth and development. A summer camp for youth and homes for children of high potential needing a wholesome and stable environment also are part of the WinShape program on Berry's mountain campus. Inez Henry Hall was remodeled in 1984 for use as a student center and for WinShape administrative offices. The industrial arts shops, gymnasium, locker rooms, and an outdoor swimming pool completed in the summer of 1986 are used by WinShape and the college. The shops are used for student hobby work during the winter terms, for classes by summer campers at Camp WinShape, and by Berry College for furniture-making. Adjacent to the gym are tennis courts, the soccer field, and the track (east of the soccer field). Both tennis courts and soccer field were constructed in 1965. Before that time, the track encircled the present soccer and baseball fields. |
