University of Birmingham

Birmingham, UK

Birmingham is a major European city located in the center of England, less than two hours away from London. Its location offers a wide variety of travel options, and with over nine billion dollars of investment in the last 20 years, the city has been redeveloped into one with first-class sporting, social, and cultural facilities. With four universities, Birmingham is also a vibrant student city.

Program of Study
The University of Birmingham is one of the leading research institutions in the UK – and with 28,000 students from 150 countries, it’s an academic community which is as cosmopolitan as the city it stands in. In relationship to the Berry curriculum, this program will help fulfill some general education requirements and many major courses. The Birmingham curriculum is a comprehensive one that will meet the needs of many students.

Living Arrangements
Self-catered and catered (breakfast and one evening meal) halls are available. Most of the rooms are singles with a shared kitchen, bathroom, and living space. Residence hall accommodation is available for most students who apply early. International and local students live together and the residence halls are co-ed.

Students pay Berry College tuition. Self-catering halls cost approximately £500 per month, and food is about £120 per month. Check the  accommodation fees and  cost of living amounts. Because autumn term is shorter than spring/summer, costs will be lower for fall semester study.

Students should have completed at least one academic year in their major field. One reference, a minimum 3.0 GPA , and a recent official transcript are required to apply.

Fall deadlines are in mid-May; spring and summer deadlines are in late September. No application fee.

Additional Information
US citizens studying in the UK for more than 6 months or planning to work or volunteer part time will need an entry clearance prior to leaving the U.S. Students studying for less than 6 months should bring their UB admission letter, a letter from Berry College and a copy of their or a parent's bank statement to show immigration upon your arrival in England.
