Sichuan Province, located in southwest China, is one of the largest provinces in the country. Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan, has a population of more than 11 million and is the economic and cultural center of the province. Sampling the famous Sichuan cuisine is a must on a trip to Chengdu. 

Program of Study 
At SU, students take at least one Chinese language course. There are fascinating Humanities courses available, such as The Historical Roots of Chinese Culture, Modern Chinese History, and Chinese Philosophy and Religion. Social Sciences courses including Contemporary Chinese Culture and Society, Chinese Politics, and Introduction to the Chinese Economy are also available. If interested in Environmental Sciences, this program has several courses of interest, such as Hydraulic Engineering in China – 2000 years of Water Resource Management, and Panda Research and Preservation. There are also great offerings in the Arts, including Chinese Arts and Culture, and Introduction to Chinese Music and Theater. 

Living Arrangements 
Students live in residence halls for international students only. The rooms are equipped with a color TV set, furniture, washroom, telephone, and air-conditioner. Students may eat at dining halls. 

Students pay Berry College semester tuition. Accommodation fees are $1500. Meals will approximate $1500 as well. Fees will be charged for alien residence card and application. Other fees may apply and all costs are subject to change.

  • A letter of recommendation from the student’s home institution is required.
  • Students must pass a physical exam.
  • There is an application fee of US $50.
