Because Mexico is currently under a US Department of State Travel Warning, this program is not an option for Berry College students.

Guanajuato has a population of 120,000 and is one of the most beautiful cities in  Mexico, with an altitude of 2017 meters. It is the capital of Guanajuato State, located in the Northern Central Highlands. It is very much a  university town and is devoted to the promotion of culture and the Arts. Guanajuato is host each year to the International Cervantino Festival, named in honor of Miguel de Cervantes, author of "Don Quixote." Artists from around the world perform in recitals, concerts, plays, ballet, modern dance, opera and art exhibits.

Program of Study 
The University of Guanajuato was founded in 1732 and currently has an enrollment of 20,000 students. Intermediate students can take language, conversation and culture courses with other international students at the university's language center. These classes are designed to improve language ability and are taught by Mexican professors. Advanced students can take classes with local students at the university. 

Living Arrangements
Students are provided room and board with a host family. Weekly laundry service is also provided. 

Students pay Berry College semester tuition. Current room and board costs are $2500, and insurance costs $15/week. Prices are subject to change, and other fees may apply. 

All students must have a 2.5 minimum GPA. Students should have completed at least one 300-level Berry Spanish course before studying here. 

Additional Information
A student from the US or Canada enrolled in a program of 6 months or less may enter Mexico with a tourist card, and does not require a student visa. For more information go to or call the Mexican consulate in Georgia (404/266-1913).
