The School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences offers scholarships to high-school graduates who have proven their dedication to theatre. Berry College awards scholarships annually to students majoring or minoring in Theatre. All scholarships are renewable for four years. Scholarship students participate in all mainstage shows. Auditions and interviews for scholarships and work opportunity in Theatre are held at the Georgia State Thespian Convention each February, and at Berry College February.

Scholarships in Theatre Arts are available for incoming students who intend to major or minor in Theatre at Berry. Scholarships are available to students with experience and demonstrated talent in acting, stage management, playwriting and design/technical activity. Actors need to prepare two contrasting monologues, approximately 60 seconds each in length (contrasting=classical/contemporary OR serious/comedic).

Students who audition on campus are also invited to sing or dance (16-measure selection) in addition to the monologues if they so desire, but there is no obligation to do so. Designers/technicians should be prepared to share a portfolio with design renderings, technical drawings (ground plans/light plots/costume plots, etc.) as well as production photos. Stage managers should be prepared to share prompt scripts and playwrights should bring several writing samples.

All students are advised to bring a head shot, current resume, and two letters of recommendation from teachers, directors, etc. who can speak to your qualifications and dedication to theatre. During your time on campus we will interview you and provide a tour of our facilities. We would love to offer you the opportunity to sit in on a theatre class and/or a ticket to a production if applicable.

Theatre scholarship auditions will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015. If students are unable to attend the Saturday audition days we will schedule auditions during the week in the spring on an individual basis.
