Tuition Assistance at BCEMS

Berry College Elementary & Middle School endeavors to welcome and educate a student body diverse in economic, social, and ethnic backgrounds. The mission of our school’s need-based scholarship program is to offer financial support to students who would not otherwise be able to attend BCEMS.

Funding for scholarship assistance is supported through the Georgia GOAL Scholarship Program, the BCEMS annual operating budget, the BCEMS Middle School Scholarship Fund, and the Berry Half Marathon.

Scholarship assistance is intended to support tuition fees only and is not available for additional optional programs including school lunches, after school care, and after school Enrichment Programs.

Applying for scholarship assistance is completely separate from applying for admission to BCEMS. BCEMS uses FACTS, an online service, to assess a family’s ability to pay for private education and to help families feel confident that their request for financial aid is being treated objectively and professionally. FACTS services over 2,600 institutions and is respected for excellent customer service. All scholarship decisions and financial information is held in the strictest confidence. In the event a student qualifies and receives a scholarship, need-based assistance requires families to reapply and submit supporting documentation to the FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Service every year.

1. Review BCEMS Tuition Assistance Program guidelines.

2. Complete and submit the FACTS online application for school year 2018-19 at FACTS online website.  This includes paying an online fee of $30.00.  New* and returning families seeking tuition assistance must submit the online application by February 12, 2018.

February 12, 2018 is the deadline for completing your online application.

February 20, 2018 is the deadline for submitting required documents (2017 tax return, 2017 W-2 and all required financial information requested) for verification by FACTS.

3. All families applying for tuition assistance will receive an estimated award notice, so they can make an informed decision about enrollment or continued enrollment. This estimated award is NOT finalized until supporting documentation is submitted to and verified by FACTS.

4. New and returning families should mail or fax all supporting documentation to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment Service by February 20, 2018.

5. FACTS will analyze and verify family financial information and make a recommendation to BCEMS.

6. The BCEMS Tuition Assistance Committee will review the FACTS report, recommendation, and supporting documents in order to make a decision about tuition assistance.

7. All tuition assistance decisions will be communicated to the parent/guardian via postal mail.

8. When seeking tuition assistance, it is important to be mindful of all deadlines, thorough in application and submission of all required documents, responsive to emails and letters from FACTS and BCEMS, and committed to all BCEMS Tuition Assistance policies.

New families seeking tuition assistance after February 20, 2018, should contact the BCEMS Office (706-236-2242).
