Short Bio

Anna Filippo received her Ph.D. in Theatre from The University of Georgia and has taught college theatre since 1989, with areas of specialization in acting, directing and southern drama. Dr. Filippo was selected as a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow at Columbia University where she studied with the former Associate Dean of the Yale School of Drama, Howard Stein. Some of her most recent professional work includes producing and directing historical outdoor dramas and musicals for Community Spirit, Inc., a grassroots theatre organization located outside of Nashville, TN. She has also received a Faculty Merit Award in Directing from the Kennedy Center-American College Theatre Festival. Her voice over work includes documentary vocal narrative, broadcast on Nashville Public Television, winner of the Broadcast Education Association (BEA) Award of Excellence for short form documentary. Dr. Filippo has served on the Executive Committee of the Southeastern Theatre Conference--the largest regional theatre conference in the country.
