Just want to perform? All Berry students (of any major) are welcome to join our campus ensembles. (And more than 10% of all students do.)

Hands On

Lead rehearsal at a local high school or teach music to elementary school students. Be a stage manager or assistant conductor for a Berry ensemble. Collect a paycheck while loading your résumé with meaningful professional experience.

Dr. Paul Neal
Professor of Music
Dr. Paul Neal

Associate Professor of Music and the Director of Choral Activities at Berry, Dr. Paul Neal has studied with conductors Donald Neuen, Dennis Shrock, Jerry McCoy and Gerald Steichen. He has conducted choirs across Europe and is co-founder and co-director of the Orpheus Men’s Ensemble in the Atlanta area. He serves as President of the Georgia Chapter of the American Choral Directors Association.

Where Music Lives

The iconic Ford complex houses two floors entirely devoted to our music program—from state-of-the art piano and MIDI labs to a recording and editing studio to a vast music library. Three performance venues include the stunning Ford Auditorium.

Explore the music of Asia, Eastern cultures, Africa, South America, Europe and Australia—as well as the development such American musical forms as jazz and pop.

Berry Singers

Practice and refine your craft in this chamber vocal ensemble of mixed voices. Limited to 24 participants, Berry Singers presents a variety of choral art best suited to small ensemble.

The Music Industry

Gain a broad understanding of the music industry—including management, sales and promotion, publishing, instrument manufacturing, the recording industry, legal and financial services, retailing and wholesaling. Includes field trips.

Whatever your taste in music—classical, opera, jazz or contemporary—you’ll find it at Berry. Over 40 performances take place every year, featuring choral and vocal ensembles as well as the symphony orchestra, instrumental ensembles and chamber groups.

Former lacrosse player finds his calling in music

When he was injured on the field, Mark Morton ’16 set his plans for an athletic career aside and found another calling. Thanks to encouragement and inspiration from his Berry faculty mentor and life-changing experiences performing with Berry’s jazz ensemble, Mark turned to his guitar and never looked back. He now plays professionally, teaches music to children and is working on recording a solo album.
