The interdisciplinary field of Women's & Gender Studies explores critical questions about the meaning of gender in society, with a prominent commitment to diversity, equity, and belonging across multiple social identity variables. In this civic-minded minor, you will explore how gender intersects with race, class, sexual orientation, ability status and other areas of identity to define and shape the human condition. Caring faculty will encourage you to gain new perspectives by examining institutions, ideologies, history, human nature, science, language and culture. Bolstered by research and service learning opportunities in the community, you will deepen your understanding of multiple identity variables including gender, learn about various stereotypes and biases, engage with theories and practices promoting social change, and enhance your understanding and appreciation of diversity.
