Giving Thanks

Every year Berry sets aside one night to specifically honor the generous donors who have given financially to student scholarships. This year’s 14th annual dinner hosted almost 350 donors and recipients for an evening of entertainment, speakers, and fellowship.

Despite unusual snowy weather outside, donors from all over came to spend an evening at the college they hold dear to their hearts.

“Scholarship night is such a great opportunity for us as students to get to meet and know the donors who are helping pay for our education,” said sophomore Shannon Cordon

The evening began with a warm welcome and thanks from President Steve Briggs, and an invocation by junior John Christian Evans. During dinner, guests were entertained by singer Savannah Roberts, with accompaniment by Adjunct Instructor of Music Kathryn Nobles. After dinner, Board of Trustees Chair Karen Holley Horrell spoke and honored Sunny Park and Glenn Cornell who are both retiring from the Board of Trustees.

Board of Visitors member Brad Bushnell was the speaker and he reminded students that they are at Berry because of the legacy left by donors. He encouraged everyone to follow in their footsteps and leave a legacy for generations to come.

Scholarship recipient Rhoxie Ellard also spoke. Ellard said Berry was her dream school,  but it was only obtainable with scholarships from generous donors.
