March Madness

During the last week of March, Berry College was home to a myriad of events that included a dance concert, the half marathon and Relay for Life.

The Berry College Dance Troupe wrapped their spring Dance Concert Mar. 29 at the Rome City Auditorium. The concert, themed “Once Upon a Time,” featured 19 dance performances choreographed by students who have taken the choreography course in the fall, as well as several faculty members within the dance program at Berry.

Senior history major Kyle Dodrill was involved in one of the dances and felt a sense of accomplishment after performing.

“The best thing about dancing is performing in front of a crowd. I love seeing my hard work pay off,” Dodrill said.

Berry also hosted Relay for Life in the Cage Center from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. March 27. Relay for Life is an event that honors cancer survivors and raises funds for the American Cancer Society. After 12 hours, Berry raised more than $13,000. The event included family games and activities, food and entertainment and included multiple booths run by various Berry student organizations.

On the morning of March 28, more than 1,400 racers competed in the Berry Half Marathon, 10K and 5K. The race is an annual fundraiser for the Berry College Elementary and Middle School. Students, faculty, community members and others volunteer to make the race a success each year.
