Funding the Future

Every year Berry College sets aside one night to honor the generous donors who have given financially to student scholarships. This year’s 15th annual dinner hosted almost 460 donors and recipients for an evening of entertainment, speakers, and fellowship.

The attendees were met by warm spring weather and the traditional line of students holding candles at the Gate of Opportunity, giving thanks and directing them to the Krannert Center where the dinner took place.

The event began with a warm welcome and thanks from Barry Griswell, a Berry alumnus and member of the Board of Trustees, and an invocation by senior Destiny Reed. The Berry College Vocal Jazz Ensemble provided the entertainment for the evening.

“The spires on Berry’s buildings were meant for students to raise their eyes to see something larger, to aspire to something more, to look to the hills and to God,” Berry College President Steve Briggs told the guests. “So the acts of gratitude around these special occasions were meant to shape the students, their character and their gratitude for an education of the heart. Martha Berry meant for philanthropy to be deeply personal.”
