Running Around Berry

On the morning of March 11, Berry College was overrun with more than 1,350 racers participating in the 10th Annual Berry Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kid’s Fun Run.

Berry College senior Jessica Cannon participated in the 5K with two of her roommates and her mom, who came into town to visit and run in this race.

“It was a really great time,” Cannon said. “The atmosphere was lively and it was nice to be surrounded by people I already knew. The course was beautiful, everyone was excited to be there!”

The event has been an annual fundraiser for the Berry College Elementary and Middle School for the past 10 years. This year, the half marathon race followed Stretch Road to Berry’s mountain campus, past Frost Chapel, Berry College Elementary & Middle School and the Old Mill, by the Winshape Retreat, down Possum Trot Road and back to main campus at the Ford Buildings.

In the half marathon, Jay Stephenson and Katelyn Will took home first place in the men’s and women’s leagues, respectively. Dillon Patterson and Julie Bell were the first man and woman to finish the 10K race, and Chase Babineaux and Jill Braley came in first in the 5K men’s and women’s leagues.
