Running Around Berry

On March 10, runners took off on a journey around Berry’s campus for the 11th Annual Berry Half Marathon, 10K, 5K and Kid’s Fun Run.

The 10k runners made the 6.2 mile track by following Stretch Road towards Berry’s mountain campus, turning around half way to make their way back to the Ford Buildings on main campus. Among those runners was Berry freshman Leah Anderson.

“This was my first time running the Berry 10k and it was a really exciting and new experience,” Anderson said. “It was an amazing feeling coming around a corner and seeing Berry students and other volunteers giving out water and encouraging the racers!”

In the half marathon, Jackson Helfrich and Kelly O’Saben took home first place in the men’s and women’s leagues, respectively. Oscar Ogwaro and Danielle Patterson were the first man and woman to finish the 10K race, and JT Forsyth and Jill Braley came in first in the 5K men’s and women’s leagues.

The race is the primary fundraiser for Berry College Elementary & Middle School and helps support facilities, curriculum development and scholarships. Students, faculty, community members and others volunteer each year to make the race a success.
