Rome Tennis Center at Berry College selected for ACC tennis championships

The Rome Tennis Center at Berry College has been selected as the 2017 host of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men’s and women’s tennis championships.

The RTC along with the Rome Sports Commission have been cultivating a relationship with the ACC for some time now in hopes of showcasing Rome as the perfect location for this event. Hosting this tournament will highlight what the nation’s largest hard-court facility and the surrounding community have to offer for large-scale competition. Teams from 15 ACC schools will travel to Rome to compete in the event, among them Georgia Tech, the University of North Carolina, Duke, Notre Dame and Florida State.

The RTC opened in the summer of 2016 as a city-owned facility that was developed on property donated by Berry College. This partnership between the city of Rome and Berry has proven to be a mutually beneficial one. Berry students operate the center under the direction of executive director Tom Daglis. The facility is just a short drive from Berry’s main campus and will host selected Berry tennis matches this season.

The RTC has made possible the creation of a Professional Tennis Management (PTM) program at Berry College, one of only a handful of such programs nationwide.
