Smokey Mountain Brass Quintet comes to Berry Feb. 1
The Smokey Mountain Brass Quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 1) at the Berry College Ford Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public.
The Quintet has performed at venues in the U.S. including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, as well as internationally with tours in Russia, the United Kingdom and China. The Quintet performs a variety of music ranging from classical to jazz and patriotic to pop. The group also serves as Quintet in Residence at Western Carolina University in North Carolina.

Orpheus Men's Ensemble in Concert Feb. 4
The Orpheus Men's Ensemble will perform as part of the Berry College Concert series at 3 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 4) in Frost Chapel. The group includes choral directors and church musicians from the metro Atlanta area. Music by Britten, Schubert, Faure, and folk songs and spirituals will be presented.
The concert is free and open to the public.

Erica Dawson Poetry Reading Feb. 9
As part of the Georgia Poetry Circuit series, Erica Dawson will read her work at 4 p.m. Feb. 9 in the Berry College Chapel.
Dawson is the Director of The University of Tampa's Low-Residency M.F.A. in creative writing, and an associate professor of English and writing. She has a B.A. from John Hopkins University, an M.F.A. from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
She has authored two collections of poetry, the first being ""Big-Eyed Afraid"" and then ""The Small Blades Hurt."" Her work has been featured in several anthologies and journals, including Barrow Street, Birmingham Poetry Review, The Swallow Anthology of New American Poets and Best American Poetry.

Take a walk on the wild side Feb. 15 with Berry's “New Music Ensemble”
A newly formed ensemble of faculty and music students will perform “A Concert of New Music: A Faculty and Student Collaborative Concert” at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the Ford Auditorium.
Associate Professor of Music Kris Carlisle said this ensemble walks on the wild side so come expecting the unexpected. Musicians perform a diverse collection of music written in the 20th and 21st century. Experience ranges from duos to large ensemble works covering not only major repertoire but also improvisation, text pieces and music written by local up-and-coming composers.
""It’s always exciting to play music written in the 20th and 21st century!” Assistant Professor of Music Lauren Denney said. “The colors and instrumentation are usually very unique and provide new sounds for the audience to hear.""

“Urinetown- The Musical” Opens Feb. 22
The Berry College Theatre Company will perform its rendition of “Urinetown- The Musical” for their first spring show.
Created by Greg Hotis and Mark Hollman, and directed by Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre Hannah Hammond, the Tony Award-winning musical shows what happens when extreme water shortage and a 20-year drought leads to a government ban on private toilets and the revolution that follows.
The show will run Feb. 22-25 and March 1-4. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays-Saturdays, and 2 p.m. on Sundays. General admission is $10, $7 for senior citizens and $5 for students.
