Don’t miss an informational lecture about Eastern Bluebirds and the Berry College nest box program presented by Berry Associate Biology Professor Renee Carleton at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 2, at Oak Hill & The Martha Berry Museum.
Eastern Bluebirds are one of the more recognizable and beloved songbirds. They require open spaces and a cavity to nest in. In 2002, Carleton found that very few bluebirds made the campus home despite many acres of suitable habitat. After installing 50 nest boxes, bluebirds are once again common here on campus. Carleton and her students have monitored the population ever since.
This lecture is the fourth installment of the five-part Sanctuary at Berry Lecture Series as part of the museum’s current exhibition, ""Sanctuary at Berry: Wildlife Photography by Gena Flanigen."" The lectures focus on the research and experience of faculty members with various species found on the Berry campus.
