Possum Trot Homecoming

ROME, Ga. - Berry College Office of the Chaplain will host the annual Possum Trot Homecoming Service at 11 a.m. Sunday (Sept. 15) at the Possum Trot Chapel on Mountain Campus.

The public is welcome to attend. The Rev. Jonathan Huggins will preside over the service with senior Blake Dean as the student speaker. There will be a picnic after the service.

The Homecoming Service is a traditional church service held annually to highlight the history of Possum Trot. The church is the "cradle of Berry College." Built originally around 1850, the old church was appropriated by Martha Berry for the Possum Trot Sunday School in 1900. The needs of the people at Possum Trot, and places like it, inspired Berry to build the schools to help children of the area learn how to use their talents and resources.
