Project Runway Designer Coaches Costume Design Students

A critically-acclaimed "Project Runway" contestant coached costume shop students during a recent two-day workshop at Berry College.

Fashion designer Aaron Michael met with students at Associate Theatre Professor Alice Bristow’s “fashion island” costume production studio in December. During the talk, the designer hosted a Q&A on fashion, celebrity and drag culture.

“Working with college students is like standing in the middle of Times Square, you see all these bright lights and new ideas, and it's truly inspiring,” Michael said. "It was an incredible evening of Q&A with students at Berry College. Just keep asking questions!"

Throughout his career, Michael has designed for drag queens, regional theater actors, “Rupaul’s Drag Race” contestants, and various national pageant winners. Now, he dedicates his time to his two fashion labels: Aaron Michael and Aaron Michael Costume Shoppe.

"What an unforgettable experience getting to hear his story and process," said student Ashley Jackson, adding that she is so thankful for the great advice.

Michael appears on Bravo TV’s “Project Runway” Thursday nights at 9 p.m.
