Berry Celebrates Hispanic Honor Society Inductees

Nine Berry College students were inducted into the Hispanic Honor Society, Sigma Delta Pi, this fall.

New members of the honor society receive benefits such as a supportive network of regional and national officers and exclusive access to Sigma Delta Pi’s undergraduate study abroad awards.

The inductees are:

  • Emma Allen: Cumming, Ga., music education major
  • Sydney Gosdin: Canton, Ga., elementary education major
  • Kylissa Katalinich: Alpharetta, Ga., pre-nursing
  • Lirio Morales Ibarra: Calhoun, Ga., sociology and anthropology major
  • Julie Petty: Crandall, Ga., Spanish major
  • Madelen Prado: Hampton, Ga., biochemistry and Spanish major
  • Morgan Underhill: Dunwoody, Ga., Spanish major
  • Gisel Villalobos: Gainesville, Ga., Spanish and political science major
  • Kate Whittle: Prospect, Ky., Spanish and international affairs major

Dean of the Evans School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, Gabrielle Barreneche, was the guest speaker for the ceremony. Before his arrival at Berry in 2021, Barreneche worked at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida for 18 years. He taught courses in Spanish language, Latin American, and Spanish Literature and culture and served as associate dean.
