Students present annual art exhibition

Berry College’s Moon Gallery will present a student exhibition this month, including the annual student honors show April 18-25 and the senior thesis exhibition April 29 through May 3.

Moon Gallery will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The students’ classes included the disciplines of design, drawing, painting, printmaking, ceramics, sculpture and lens-based media. Juror Bethany Pipkin selects the most impressive student pieces to be showcased. Pipkin is a professor and foundations program coordinator for the Department of Art + Design at The South Carolina School of the Arts at Anderson University.

The student honors show will have a reception at 5 p.m. April 21 at the Moon Gallery.

Three seniors with studio art majors will present their thesis exhibition the week after the annual honors show. The students are Brianna Dehring from Bishop, Georgia, Mia Irizarry from Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and Kendall Varitek from Suwanee, Georgia.

Dehring uses art to represent forgotten spaces. Irizarry explores food and nostalgia through sculpture. And Varitek’s represents the mental health of Berry athletes through multimedia.

The thesis exhibit will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
