Berry College is hosting a lecture about Clara Bryant Ford in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Ford Complex. The presentation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 30) at Ford Dining Hall.
The lecture, “Clara Bryant Ford: The Believer,” celebrates the life of Clara Ford, best known as the wife of Henry Ford and mother of Edsel Ford. She was a philanthropist, suffragist and advocate for education and women’s empowerment. The Fords donated $60 million during their lives and played a large role in Berry’s development. She and Henry Ford were lifelong benefactors of Berry, drawn to Martha Berry’s mission of education through service.
The lecture is by Clara Ford’s great-great-nephew, Mark Campbell, who is treasurer, COO and secretary of the Henry Ford Heritage Association. Select correspondence between Martha Berry and Henry Ford will also be on display.
This event is free and open to the public.
