Nationally renowned poet to read at Berry College

Berry College is hosting a nationally renowned poet Feb. 10 as part of the Georgia Poetry Circuit.

Award-winning poet Diamond Forde will read her work at the College Chapel at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Diamond Forde has written two poetry collections, “Mother Body,” a Kate Tufts Discovery award nominee, and “The Book of Alice,” winner of the Academy of American Poets’ James Laughlin Award. Her work has appeared in many publications, such as Poetry Magazine, Obsidian and Callaloo. Additionally, Forde has received recognition through the Furious Flower Poetry Prize and Ruth Lily Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg fellowship.

Forde currently serves as the Interviews Editor for Honey Literary and as an assistant professor at North Carolina University. She has received her doctorate in creative writing at Florida State University, with a specialization in both African American poetics and fat studies, and her MFA in Creative Writing at The University of Alabama.

This event is free and open to the public.

Berry College has been a part of the Georgia Poetry Circuit since 1998. The mission of the Georgia Poetry Circuit is to bring nationally recognized poets to Georgia schools, exposing audiences across the state to the accomplished and diverse world of contemporary poetry.
