The Berry College American Red Cross Club received multiple regional and chapter annual awards this year, acknowledging leadership, volunteerism and a commitment to serving both the campus and the surrounding community.
The student-led organization earned the Regional Red Cross Club Award (College), which recognizes collegiate clubs that actively promote the mission of the American Red Cross through service, outreach and education. The club also received the Sponsorship Group of the Year (Education) Award for its support of Red Cross Blood Services and efforts to strengthen community participation in blood donation initiatives.
During the academic year, the organization hosted two blood drives and collected nearly 150 pints of blood. Because a single pint can save up to three lives, the donations have the potential to impact as many as 450 individuals. In recognition of these efforts, the club earned American Red Cross Premier Blood Program status, a prestigious national honor awarded to organizations supporting the community and national blood supply.
At the chapter level, the organization earned the Youth and Young Adult Award, recognizing exceptional commitment and service to the Red Cross mission among volunteers ages 13 to 24. The club was also nominated for the Good Neighbor Award for its collaborative community engagement and outreach efforts.
Founded in 1974, the Berry College American Red Cross Club has a longstanding tradition of student leadership, service and community engagement. Throughout the year, students organized blood drives, hosted service and outreach initiatives like “Thankful Thoughts” and a road safety-themed Trunk or Treat booth, and instructed CPR/AED/First Aid certification courses to help equip students, faculty and staff with lifesaving skills.
