A Berry College communication major recently placed in the Top 24 at the American Forensics Association National Speech Tournament.

Emma Zaworski gave a speech about fertility inequality in the queer community. More than 600 students from across the country competed.

“It was incredibly surreal and exciting,” Zaworski said. “My speech advocates for an issue that is deeply personal and often overlooked, so I’m truly grateful to have been given a platform to speak on it. I already felt so proud just to qualify for a national tournament, so placing in the Top 24 was honestly unbelievable.”

“Forensics has given me a platform to transform research into impact, and to use my voice in spaces where these conversations are often missing.”

Zaworski, a rising senior from Atlanta, was also a semi-finalist (top 12) last week at the Interstate Oratorical Association, the oldest public speaking competition in the country.
