Berry's 27,000 acres serve as a working model of ecological stewardship, recreation and education:
Biodiversity Protection
Conservation efforts target wetlands, grasslands, riparian zones and pollinator habitats.
Partnerships
Berry is a certified member of the American Tree Farm System.
Student Involvement
Research projects, habitat mapping and trail signage improvements are led by student groups and coursework. For example, the Agricultural Biodiversity Conservation (ABC) Project, led by Dr. Brian Campbell in the Environmental Science and Studies Department, engages students in seed saving, local food cultivation and public outreach — advancing food security, cultural knowledge and environmental resilience.
Sustainable Forestry and Prescribed Fire
Active forest management includes selective harvesting and an ongoing prescribed burn program to reduce wildfire risk and promote longleaf pine ecosystems.
Trail Access
Students and the public enjoy access to miles of multi-use trails.
